Our logo is a green navigational buoy, or "can." Green can # 7 is anchored halfway out of Hussey Sound in Casco Bay, Maine, and warns sailors of rocks off Pumpkin Nob. Green can #7
also demarcates one edge of a deep water channel that oil tankers use to transport fuel oil to the Wyman Power Plant on Cousins Island. Without channel markers like green can #7 to guide them, tanker captains would be in a sea of trouble.

Samuel M. Carter

Samuel M. Carter is the founder and president of Channel Marker Advisory Services LLC. In his former lives, Sam was in-house counsel, senior compliance officer, and director of sales at a boutique institutional securities brokerage and investment banking firm in Philadelphia. He started Channel Marker Advisory Services after serving as Director of Examinations and Licensing with the Maine Office of Securities, where he supervised all investment advisor license applications and examinations of Maine licensed investment advisors and broker-dealers. Prior to working in the financial industry, Sam was an associate with PwC LLP in Philadelphia, where he practiced in the International Tax and M&A groups. He also ran his own law firm providing estate planning and small business legal services.

Sam is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was commissioned in 2007 and served on active duty in Southeast Asia. In 2011 he completed his tour of duty with the rank of Captain. He lives in Yarmouth with his smart and exceptionally talented wife, two beautiful daughters, and two dogs. When he isn't working, Sam can be found sailing, gardening, removing invasive Norway maples from his property, homebrewing beer, and building furniture.
